Psychiatric Evaluations

A thorough first conversation to understand what you're experiencing and what may help.

A psychiatric evaluation is a structured conversation about your history, your symptoms and your goals. It is the starting point for care, and it is not a test you can fail.

The visit covers your current concerns, medical and family history, previous treatment, sleep, work or school, and anything else shaping how you feel day to day. Nothing is required of you beyond answering as openly as you are comfortable.

The evaluation ends with a shared plan. That plan may involve medication, therapy, further assessment, or simply a follow-up conversation — the direction is decided together, not handed down.

What to expect

  • An initial visit longer than a routine appointment
  • Questions about symptoms, history and daily life
  • A discussion of possible directions for care
  • A written plan and a scheduled follow-up
