Condition
Grief
Loss that stays overwhelming long past the point others expect.
Grief is not an illness and it does not follow a schedule. Most people move through it without treatment, supported by the people around them.
Support helps when grief stays disabling — when it stops daily life for a long stretch, or turns into depression. Asking for help is not a failure to cope.
Signs people often notice
- Sorrow that does not ease over months
- Difficulty accepting the loss
- Withdrawal from people and activities
- Trouble functioning at work or home
- Guilt about continuing your own life
This list is descriptive, not diagnostic. Recognising yourself in it does not mean you have grief, and not recognising yourself does not mean you don't. Only a proper evaluation can tell you that.
